Music Licensing Terms

The License and rights included
The standard license gives client upon payment the non-exclusive right to use the music, use of the master recordings, to do edits, to synchronize music to film or other visual media and the duplication right to make copies of your work, on dvds for example. If not stated differently, all licenses are per project based, valid in perpetuity.

Additional Public Performance Rights
The license doesn’t include rights to public performances, for instance a broadcast or a theatrical release. This is handled by each country’s PRO (performance rights organization), i.e. BMI, ASCAP, PRS, STIM, SOCAN, GEMA, etc. This usually doesn’t affect you as a film maker/producer since most broadcasters have blanket deals or similar with their PRO. In some cases on certain projects this is negotiable between composer-client, contact Niklas for more info.

PRO (STIM)
On broadcast and theatrical releases, please provide the airing station/producer with proper cue sheets, ie Tracknames, Composer: Niklas Aman (STIM), Publisher: Brusbox Music (STIM).

Definition of limits to a project
A unique project can’t last more than 2 years and gaps between working on/off no longer than 3 months. Still there’s a workaround – a “rate x 3″ one-time fee option to cover all future sub-projects to the same end user client. Also if you use longer parts of music in the future to the same client, the difference only from first order will be invoiced. To use this option to its fullest extent will give you an opportunity to “buy out” some tracks to be used as a trademark or part of the brand for you or the end user client.

Non allowed use
Your productions must not violate human rights or be harmful to others in any way. You may not use my tracks in any pornographic material or extreme political/religious propaganda. You may not use the music or parts of the music in other music productions.
You may not sell, give away, lend, lease, copy, publish on network or distribute the music to other parties in any form apart from being naturally included when licensed to your film or visual media.

Anytime questions and feedback are most welcome – contact Niklas.
